Spring 2009 Berkeley Kiwanis and Circle K Come to Caz!
The month of April in Cazadero brings an end to the winter rains, a sense of excitement of the upcoming summer season and plenty of work to be done around the camp. This year it also brought the Berkeley Kiwanis Club, the Circle K Club from UC Berkeley and… Onion Pie. The goal of the Kiwanians around the globe is dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time, and for a long weekend in April, they certainly made a difference at Caz. Spearheaded by weekend coordinator Jack Rosano, his daughter and Kiwanis Club With the support and muscle of their service club members, and the guidance of the Caz staff, the Kiwanians and Circle K members tackled some mammoth but much-needed projects at Caz. Not only did they fix leaking roofs, and dry-rotting decks, but they replaced the retaining wall fence around the amphitheater and replaced a privacy wall and handrail at the caretakers cabin. They also put out the tents, cots and mattresses for the season, and cleaned Caz from one end of camp to the other. Caz would be difficult to open and operate without an organized work Thank you Kiwanis and Thank you Circle K!
